Heating System: Baxi fire back boiler with cylinder

Mr Melville reports that his system is an old Baxi fire back boiler which is noisy and very inefficient. He was considering a combi boiler:

Problems:

  • SYSTEM WAS VERY OLD AND INEFFICIENT
  • HEATING WAS SLOW TO HEAT
  • RECOVERY, PARTICULARLY ON DOMESTIC HOT WATER, WAS POOR 

Solution:

Mr Melville  chose to fit a Tadpole in August 2007 at considerably less cost than a combi boiler and reported:

  • IMPROVEMENT TO HIS SYSTEM WAS APPARENT WITHIN MINUTES OF INSTALLATION
  • THE SYSTEM WAS OPERATING ALMOST SILENTLY
  • THE PUMP IS RUNNING SIGNIFICANTLY QUIETER
  • RADIATORS HEAT UP SIGNIFICANTLY FASTER THAN BEFORE
  • DOMESTIC HOT WATER IS HOTTER, RECOVERS WELL AND EVEN RETAINS HEAT OVERNIGHT
